Do you perform work outside of Ohio? Do your employees travel into or through other states?
There is a risk that coverage through the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC) is insufficient should your employee have a work-related injury outside the state of Ohio. Even if your employee is performing work outside of Ohio for only a short period of time, there is a risk that a work-related injury could occur. This means that the injured employee could file a claim in a jurisdiction other than Ohio, leaving your business at risk for fines or penalties from being uninsured in that state.
BWC has launched its new Other States Coverage as a way to protect you in these circumstances and recommends Other States Coverage if these scenarios apply to you:
Your employee is performing work in another state.
You have Ohio-based employees working in another jurisdiction for an extended period.
Your employee is working in a state where the law requires specific coverage for temporary exposures.
If any of these apply to you, we urge you to apply for Other States Coverage. Here’s how easy it is: CALL US. We will pre-fill the application for you and send it to you for review and signature. We will also follow-up with the BWC on proposal and issuance. In a nutshell, we take the hassle out of the process!
Again, if you have any out-of-state work and wonder if you need this coverage, please call us to discuss further. We are here to help you navigate through the process.
