Another coverage with an odd name, crime insurance protects the business against theft of money, and is a broad term for a host of specialty coverages, such as employee dishonesty, forgery, funds transfer fraud, theft of money and securities, among others.

Here are some of the claims that would be covered under crime insurance:

• An employee has been stealing funds from the company by writing checks to himself.
• Cash is stolen from the business’ location.
• Checks were written and signatures forged on the business’ checking account.
