SAMPLE EMPLOYEE MANUAL
The success of any business depends on clearly defined goals and a commitment
to the activities specifically designed to meet those goals. As a result,
it is necessary to establish procedures that must be followed and a method to
monitor these procedures so you, the business owner, know if your employees
are "on the right track." It is the responsibility of each employee
to learn, understand and adhere to these policies so they can provide prompt,
accurate, courteous service to clients and each other, while achieving personal
success in the process. Click here for a sample employee manual to help
get you started. Microsoft Word / Acrobat Reader (.pdf)
COBRA RULES If you have 20 or more employees, you are subject to a law known as the
Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985, better known as COBRA.
COBRA requires employers to offer individuals who would otherwise lose benefit
protection the option of continuing to have group health care plan coverage.
If you are subject to COBRA, familiarize yourself with the basics of the law.
WORKERS
COMPENSATION
Every state has enacted their own workers' compensation laws to protect
employees against loss of income and for medical payments due to a work-related
injury, accident, illness, or disease. In the vast majority of states, workers
compensation coverage is mandatory; in Texas and New Jersey, it's voluntary.
EMPLOYEE
BENEFITS
The arena of employee benefits can be a very complicated matter for those
who do not have to deal with the subject on a daily basis. |
